Posca on drawing paper
For Takahiro Kojo, his creative time is the first twenty minutes after he returns home from the vocational center. Patiently painted over a month, the pattern features lines and shapes that dance and change over time like a living thing. The meticulous brushwork that fills the space weaves a unique new world. Kojo uses Gesso to prime prepare the drawing paper or canvas, then draws patterns by moving the nib of his Posca markers in small increments. All of his patterns are one-of-a-kind, and manifested by the spontaneity of the moment. Being a man of few words, he has used the power of art to gain the wings of expression and connect with others. Shall his creative journey evolve further through the bonds he had developed? With an abundance of possibilities at his fingertips, the dialogue continues.
TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION
Kojo’s work, with its bold contrast between the broad areas of color on the left and right, and the vivid use of warm tones throughout the composition, evokes a sense of brightness and energy that inspires viewers with a positive feeling and compels them to soar forward. At the same time, the subtle “tremble” of the Posca marker lines and black color partially applied in the picture plane creates a cohesive effect, balancing the visual expansion that is unique to warm tones, while also evoking our Toyota's commitment to safety. The work gives us the courage to soar, and in it we saw a beautiful resonance with our aspiration to make “mobility" a possibility for making dreams come true, which is what led us to select his work. "We want to get everyone where they want to go." With this passion, we Toyota will continue to dedicate ourselves to our mission to support and uplift the dreams and aspirations of all who seek to “soar”.
