The “Map of –” series is like secret treasure maps, created by Uchiyama using over 100 different 0.5mm glitter pens. He completes these works without any preliminary sketches, and numerous creatures, numbers, and sometimes imaginary characters like ogres appear in his drawings as if they were growing cells. The sparkle of the glitter ink and the intricate lines draw viewers into his adventure to seek treasure. Although he is normally shy and quiet, he becomes surprisingly articulate when introducing his works.

JURY’S COMMENT

Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd.

We were overwhelmed by the exquisiteness of the elaborate drawings and the impact of the work when viewed as a whole. The way it has been crafted with meticulous attention to detail in creating a compelling ensemble resonates with our core business of real estate development. It also aligns with the philosophy of our condominium business brand Brillia: “refinement and comfort”. We are excited to explore how we can utilize the work as a corporate prize in the future.
